My FaV MoViEss!!:)**

Posted on June 9, 2010 in LA assignments\ by dijaparker2014

During my free-time at home I do a lot of stuff. I eat, sleep, text, write poems, talk on the phone to my friends, etc. But most of all I watch movies. I watch a average 50 movies per week!! Sometimes I don’t even remember all the movies I’ve watched in a week. I have a lot of favorite movies. They include:
 Drumline
 Step Up
 Dreamgirls
 Seven Pounds
 The Clash of The Titans
 Hercules
 The Jackson’s: the American dream
 Scary Movie 4
 The Lion King 2
 Remember The Titans
 The Wood
 Big Daddy
 Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball
 Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakuel
 AND MANY MORE!!!

I watch at least 5 of these movies per week. I love watching movies. I enjoy the plots they have. Some movies keep me on the edge of my seat. I love movies a lot buy them almost every week. I watch them on DVD, VHS, IPODs, TV, On Demand, ANYTHING. I just plain out love movies. I remember that ever since I was a little girl I had always wanted to meet Michael Jackson. If he wasn’t dead I would still want to right now. I wanted to meet him because I thought his performance in the movie The Jacksons : An American Dream. Later on in my life… meaning when I got older, I found out that those were actors playing the roles of Michael. I really love movies and I just wish that I could get to meet everyone of them that I want to meet. Even though for some of them I’m gonna have to visit their grave site or their star on the Hollywood walk of fame!! I used to want to be a actress but I don’t want to have to got through all of the transitions and stuff because when I start a family I don’t want to put them through all of that. I might direct a movie one day though.. And you never know, it might even be a success.

middle school memories

I have been in Mariner Middle School since 2007! It’s been so fun here! I’ve met new people, learned new things and seen very interesting stuff:)

I met so many new people. I can’t count them .Graduation Day is coming up, I can’t wait. But then again I wanna stay another year. I can’t believe its June already….the year just went by TOO fast!

My most precious memory is the first day of sixth grade. I was going to my locker at the end of the day. I went to stand up and all I felt was a cold, hard object go across my hairline. The only words that came to mind was “ouch, ouch, ouch”!! Then Mrs. Orton took me to the nurse. The nurse told me that I had a scrape on my forehead and she cleaned it up and said “ be careful at those lockers”. That day I became close friends with the nurse, we all know as Mrs. Reed. Ever since then I have visited her every day, and I still do.

Another accomplishment is the day I received a metal for 2nd place in the 7th grade science fair. I didn’t even know I had won it until I walked in Mr.Guyer’s room and he gave me the metal. I was so happy. Its still hanging up in my room right now.

Those are my memories!! I could share much more but the essay can only be 5 paragraphs. I’m gonna miss middle school so much!!

An accomplishment i have is the day I received a metal for 2nd place in the 7th grade science fair. I didn’t even know I had won it until I walked in Mr.Guyer’s room and he gave me the metal. I was so happy. It’s still hanging up in my room right now.

Another accomplishment is the fact that I have made It through this whole year of 8th grade and now I’m about to go to the 9th grade!!!

I also won the best website for Ms. Albanese core one… I was so proud and very very happy. I have been on the B honor roll all year… I think!

There are my accomplishments of my years at mariner middle school!

OLIVER TWIST BOOK REVIEW :)!!!**

Posted on May 14, 2010 in LA assignments\ by dijaparker2014

When I first saw the book Oliver Twist I thought it was a really dumb book. But Charles Dickens proved me wrong. Oliver Twist will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time you’re reading it.

Oliver was an orphan. His mother died at child birth. She had no identification, no one knew who she was or where she had came from. The child was put into an orphanage and given the name Oliver Twist. The workhouse owner Mr. Bumble treats all of the kids there very bad and really cruel. He hardly ever feeds them enough food to get full. When Oliver was bad Mr. Bumble would beat him. Mr. Sowerberry came and asked for Oliver’s help as an undertaker. Noah Claypole was Mr. Sowerberry’s helper and he made Oliver’s life miserable. One day Noah began to say horrid comments about Oliver’s mother so Oliver grabbed Noah by his throat and dragged Noah to the ground :) Oliver was sent back to Mr. Bumble. When he got back her ran away to London.

From what I have read so far it has seemed to be a really good book!!!! I really would recommend it if you need some EASY A.R points:)!*

ToucheddByy A Angel :] !!!!!

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

The Journey

Posted on May 3, 2010 in LA assignments\ by dijaparker2014

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice –
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do –
determined to save
the only life you could save.

Choices:]

If i can’t do
what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don’t want
to do
It’s not the same thing
but it’s the best i can
do
If i can’t have
what i want . . . then
my job is to want
what i’ve got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more to want
Since i can’t go
where i need
to go . . . then i must . . . go
where the signs point
through always understanding
parallel movement
isn’t lateral
When i can’t express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal
I know
but that’s why mankind
alone among the animals
learns to cry

Refelection: this poem goes so deeep:) i  lovee itt itss soo nicee,, itt meanss likee findd aa alternitive of doinqq  stuff thatt yhuu really don’t wantt tew do!!!!!

My Poems

Limerick

There once lived a old green frog

He spent his days telling stories to tadpoles on a log

He made you scream

He wasn’t very mean

He told his poems in the thick white fog

Cinquain

Summer

Hot. Sun. Flip Flops.

Walking on the boardwalk.

To stay cool you sit in the house.

Haiku

Winter is very cold

White snow all over the place

I don’t like the cold

Free Verse

Outrageously Contagious

I feel the pressure upon my skin

The droplets of water won’t sink in

I want to start again

New life. New breath.

But in the same skin I’m in.

Woman Work By: Maya Angelou

Posted on April 27, 2010 in LA assignments\ by dijaparker2014

I’ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I’ve got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
‘Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You’re all that I can call my own.
